Me-Encanta-Sultry-Smoky-EyeThe launch of Me Encanta, my Holiday 2013 Color Collection for Alima Pure has been no less than an overwhelming success so far! Beauty experts and bloggers all over the country are posting selfies with beautiful re-creations of the first look we revealed as part of this simple, yet versatile collection.

I’ve been using all of these shades on photo shoots since we started the creation process, and I can tell you they are ah-mazing to work with!! As a sustainable makeup artist, I selfishly created colors I wanted to have in my kit because I just couldn’t find them easily in natural formulas I approved of. You benefit from that because these are shades most women (like you) can pull off beautifully.

There’s another reason women are loving Me Encanta that you should know about. There’s actually some real significance behind its creation.

Enchanted by the dynamic dancers of flamenco on a recent trip to Spain, I noticed there were two distinct sides to these expressive, beautiful women. One was decidedly quieter and the other was a force to be reckoned with. You can get a really good sense of the contrasts on my Pinterest board. I wanted to honor the power and diversity of women by giving them colors that could allow them to express whatever they were feeling in the moment.

We already covered the more delicate “Chic” look in the first tutorial. Now it’s time to reveal how to pull off the stunning “Sultry” look with bold expression that shows a woman who is seductive, mysterious, intriguing and really owns herself.

Get the collection, grab your brushes, and follow along as I guide you through how to achieve a dramatic, smoky eye (great to do all year, not just during the holidays). This is a limited edition collection, so you’ll have to snag it before it sells out if you want to play along. BUY THE COLLECTION

Quick recap of the steps shown for the Sultry Look:

1. Mix a drop or two of water with some Flamenco Eyeshadow to create a paste. Go directly to the lid with the shadow on your finger and press it on. This shade is amazing because it works to enhance any and every eye color!

2. Rim the upper and lower lashes using Brush #31 wet and dip it into the Flamenco eyeshadow.

Note: do not add water directly to the container of eyeshadow. Use the lid of the container as a mixing palette or another smooth surface like a dish.

3. Put a small amount of eyeshadow on the #37 Eye Blending Brush and buff out the edges of where you applied the Flamenco in the crease of the eye; softly diffusing any hard lines. Don’t over work the brush over the color or it will lift off too much.

4. Define the cheekbones using Sombra Contour Powder and the Half Moon Brush in the hollows of the cheeks. The color gets more intense with each layer, so build slowly.

5. Add just a touch of Pink Satin Matte Blush using the #17 Blush Brush on the apples of the cheeks. Don’t go overboard with this or you’ll look garish. It’s just to add a touch of color to balance the contour and navy on the face, but should be barely perceptible.

6. Coat the lashes with Black Natural Definition Mascara. Start at root and sweep upwards to open the eye. Then repeat, repeat, repeat. This is no time to have skimpy lashes!

7. As the last step, do a few swipes of Baila Nourishing Lip Tint on your mouth and you are ready to go claim the night!

If you missed the video I shot in Spain of the incredible flamenco dancers who inspired Me Encanta, watch it right here. When you do, you’ll see exactly what I mean about these powerful women be so captivating! I encourage you to play this right before putting on your makeup for some mood enhancement.

As we reflect on the past 12 months and celebrate a fresh new year, we can chose to step into it with excitement and spirit. We can actually use makeup to accentuate whom we’d like to be seen as and use it as a tool for putting an expressive stamp on our lives.

How will you choose to express your beautiful self?
